Jesus received an anointing, and the term "Christ" signifies the 'anointed one,' a necessary consecration for His earthly mission.

In Acts 10:38, it is revealed that God anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit and power. He traveled, performing good deeds, and healing the oppressed, as God was with Him.

In the Old Testament, anointing signified setting apart. This practice involved smearing or rubbing, as seen when David, Jehu, Elisha, and Aaron were anointed as king, prophet, and priest, respectively. Items, like those mentioned in Exodus 29:36, were also anointed for consecration.

Exodus 40:9-11 instructs anointing the tabernacle, altar, laver, and utensils. Exodus 30:22-33 details the composition of holy anointing oil for consecrating people and items.

Consecration involves sanctification, preparation, dedication, and being set apart.

Anointing serves various purposes:
Healing, as in James 5:14-15, where elders anoint the sick, praying for their recovery.
Purification, illustrated in Psalm 51:7, "Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean."
Signifying honor and purity, as in Song of Solomon 2:1.
Representing grace and peace, seen in Esther 2:12.
Symbolizing items like pomegranates (Numbers 13:23) and spikenard (John 12:3, Song of Solomon 1:12).

2. Take the anointing oil in your hands and pray to our Heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Below is a prayer that you may pray over the oil. Remember that Jesus is the deliverer, healer, restorer, and the one who gives us breakthroughs through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Anointing Oil Prayer

Father, in the mighty name of Jesus. We thank you for your love, thank you for your grace, thank you for your mercy, thank you for your breakthroughs, thank you for your power, thank you for your deliverance, thank you for the healing, thank you for the restoration, thank you for the revival, thank you for your miracles, signs and wonders, and thank you for intervening in whatever situation we are dealing with. We believe with You, Jesus, All THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!

Thank you for the full and finished work at the cross at Calvary. Thank you Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior from Nazareth who is my deliverer, my healer and my restorer. Thank you Jesus for being the sacrifice so we may be reconciled back to our Heavenly Father. And because of the price that You, Jesus have paid for us, we are now able to enjoy the blessings, favor, goodness, mercy and grace in our lives.

We are trusting You, Holy Spirit, that You will anoint this oil that is in my hands with your power, with your fire, and with your Spirit resting on it to break yokes, for revival, to heal the sick, to drive out demons, and for breakthroughs in the lives of those who will come in contact with this anointing oil that is consecrated, set apart for you Lord. In Jesus Name. Amen.
