The North Star on Royal Caribbean cruises is a glass-enclosed pod and is attached to a very large mechanical arm that lifts the pod up and down (300 feet above sea level) and - according to the marketing material - out over the side of the ship. However, unlike the marketing material, it DOESN'T go out over the side of the ship because IT TAKES TOO LONG. We weren't very happy about that!
