Het is eind maart, begin april en het sap begint te stromen van de wortels van de berk naar het kruin en zijtakken. Het moment waar velen sap gaan tappen.

Dit filmpje is ontstaan uit een jarenlange samenwerking en overleg met mede instructeurs, hoveniers en boomverzorgers. Ik heb mij verdiept in dit wondere verschijnsel door veel te lezen, te zoeken op internet, vanuit mijn oude studieboeken en vooral veel zelf proberen. Nu 10 jaar verder werd het tijd om daar wat over te vertellen in een video.

Deze video is niet bedoeld om mensen de les te lezen maar om je hopelijk meer te laten nadenken voordat je sap gaat tappen. Nadenken over de wat voor consequenties het voor de boom kan hebben als je het verkeerd uitvoert. Nadenken over het feit dat mensen die jou nadoen, niet altijd weet hebben hoe het goed uitgevoerd moeten worden.

Hopelijk heb je hier wat aan en we wensen iedereen een goed tap seizoen!

It is the end of March, the beginning of April and the sap begins to flow from the roots of the birch to the crown and side branches. The moment where many people start tapping juice.

This video is the result of years of collaboration and consultation with fellow instructors, gardeners and arborists. I have immersed myself in this wonderful phenomenon by reading a lot, searching the internet, from my old textbooks and, above all, trying a lot myself. Now 10 years later it was time to tell something about it in a video.

This video is not meant to lecture people but to hopefully make you think more before you start drinking juice. Think about the consequences for the tree if you do it wrong. Thinking about the fact that people who imitate you don't always know how to do it properly.
