This the final part of our multi part series of the former Royal Air Force Hospital Nocton Hall. This was an organised tour for myself and Exploring dave. Joining us on this adventure is ‪@ExploringwithCarl‬ and ‪@theurbanlegenduk1760‬ . We start at the Maternity Ward and make our way to the Radiology department.

Mary and Shaun the tour operators are well on the way to restoring the water tower to convert it into a family home for themselves.

Opening in 1947 the hospital was situated in the grounds of Nocton Hall and had 740 beds.
The hospital was used extensively for training and the Hall was used for Accommodation and Recreation. The Royal Air Force closed the station on 31st March 1983.
The United States Air Force then leased the Station as their own military hospital.

Extensive modifications and modernisation was made by the Americains to include chemical warfare treatment for injured soldiers returning from the first Gulf War which ran from 2nd August 1990 until 28th February 1991. During the Gulf war over 1300 US medical staff were on standby at Nocton Hall Hospital however only 35 wounded soldiers were sent there.

The United States Military handed Nocton Hall hospital back to the UK on 30th September 1995.
