Many people today say, “I feel like I’m losing my faith.”
Usually, that sentence is spoken quietly — with fear, confusion, and a sense that something essential is slipping away.
In this video, I want to suggest something gently but clearly:
that feeling does not mean what most people think it means.
We live in a culture that measures reality by emotion, and faith is often reduced to how it feels. But the Christian tradition understands faith very differently — not as a feeling, but as a deliberate assent of the intellect, supported by grace, even when consolation disappears.
Drawing on the Church’s teaching and the witness of St Thérèse of Lisieux — who endured profound spiritual dryness near the end of her life — this video explores:
why faith is so often confused with feeling
how modern culture has trained us to trust emotions over truth
what the Church actually teaches about the nature of faith
why spiritual dryness is often a sign of maturation, not failure
and why choosing God without feeling anything may be one of the strongest forms faith can take
If you are still choosing God — still praying, still showing up — even without consolation, nothing is wrong.
