Описание: Lyrics:
Mm… Cape wind on a Sunday morning…
A small man with a big thunder in his chest…
When the world went quiet, he became a bell.
Desmond Mpilo Tutu—
The voice of the voiceless.

Mm…

Baba Tutu!
Speak for the weak!
Baba Tutu!
Light in the dark!
Baba Tutu!
Truth with a smile!
Baba Tutu!
Freedom’s spark!

From Klerksdorp dust to the streets of Soweto,
A child with a cough but a heart that was ghetto-bold,
Taught in a classroom, chalk on his fingers,
Till the laws got cruel and the sorrow grew longer.
So he traded the desk for the pulpit’s flame,
Put on the collar but he never played tame—
He prayed with his feet, marched with his faith,
Sang “God sees you” straight in the tyrant’s face.

When they said “Be silent”—he said “No, Lord.”
When they said “Obey”—he said “Not that sword.”
He held up a mirror to the nation’s bruise,
And called it love when love had to choose.

Desmond Tutu—voice of the voiceless,
Carry our names where the chain can’t reach us.
Laugh through the tears, still fearless, still true,
Rainbow in the storm, hallelujah, Tutu.
Desmond Tutu—truth in the thunder,
Grace like a river that won’t go under.
Hands to the sky, we remember you—
Hallelujah, hallelujah—Desmond Tutu.

Apartheid tried to paint the sun in one color,
Build a prison out of pass laws and hunger.
But he stood in the gap like a shepherd of fire,
Naming the evil without losing desire
For a future where enemies learn to be neighbors,
Where justice is bread and the poor sit at tables.
He spoke for the mothers whose sons disappeared,
For miners and maids and the ones who were feared.
Sanctions on the streets, sermons on the air,
A bishop with backbone, a soft humble stare—
And the world leaned in when he opened his mouth:
“There is no peace without justice,” said the South.

They jailed the body, but they couldn’t jail the spirit.
They banned the meetings, but they couldn’t ban the hymn.
They could not stop a laugh that sounded like freedom,
Or a prayer that turned into a people.

Desmond Tutu—voice of the voiceless,
Carry our names where the chain can’t reach us.
Laugh through the tears, still fearless, still true,
Rainbow in the storm, hallelujah, Tutu.
Desmond Tutu—truth in the thunder,
Grace like a river that won’t go under.
Hands to the sky, we remember you—
Hallelujah, hallelujah—Desmond Tutu.

Nineteen eighty-four—Stockholm lights in winter,
But he carried warm Africa in his center.
Nobel Peace Prize—yet he stayed the same:
Not chasing crowns, only calling names.
He said, “My child, your skin is not your worth,
We belong to each other on this trembling earth.”
He took pain like a letter and read it aloud,
So the silent could breathe, so the low could be proud.

What do we need?
Truth and mercy!
What do we need?
Justice and mercy!
What do we need?
Courage and mercy!
What do we need?
Ubuntu—mercy!

Desmond Tutu—voice of the voiceless,
Carry our names where the chain can’t reach us.
Laugh through the tears, still fearless, still true,
Rainbow in the storm, hallelujah, Tutu.
Desmond Tutu—truth in the thunder,
Grace like a river that won’t go under.
Hands to the sky, we remember you—
Hallelujah, hallelujah—Desmond Tutu.

After the sirens, after the smoke, after the victory songs,
He opened a room for the righting of wrongs.
Truth and Reconciliation—bring your wound, bring your lie,
Bring your trembling confession, bring your reasons why.
Not to erase, not to pretend, not to sweep it away—
But to pull the poison out so the people could stay.
He wept for the broken, he laughed for the brave,
Said forgiveness ain’t weakness, it’s how we get saved.

Ubuntu! Ubuntu!
I am because we are!
Ubuntu! Ubuntu!
We’re brighter than bars!
Ubuntu! Ubuntu!
No child left behind!
Ubuntu! Ubuntu!
One heart, one mind!

Desmond Tutu—voice of the voiceless,
Carry our names where the chain can’t reach us.
Laugh through the tears, still fearless, still true,
Rainbow in the storm, hallelujah, Tutu.
Desmond Tutu—truth in the thunder,
Grace like a river that won’t go under.
Hands to the sky, we remember you—
Hallelujah, hallelujah—Desmond Tutu.

When the powerful speak, the weak can disappear…
So God sent a laughter we could hear.
A bishop’s bell in a midnight room—
Calling freedom like flowers in bloom.
Desmond Mpilo Tutu…
The voice of the voiceless…
Mm… we remember you.
