The aim is to remove from the list those who are not citizens. The National Election Commission told the Supreme Court during the SIR hearing that the responsibility for granting citizenship lies with the Central Government. The Commission also stated that even a slight doubt regarding citizenship would result in removal from the list. The SIR case will be heard again tomorrow.
