Описание: Dortmund is the third-largest city in North Rhine-Westphalia, after Cologne and Düsseldorf, and the ninth-largest city in Germany. It is a vibrant Ruhr region city, transforming from an industrial powerhouse into a modern hub for culture, technology, and football. Known as a former mining and steel center, it is best known today for the Bundesliga team Borussia Dortmund (BVB), the German Football Museum, and the picturesque Phoenix Lake area.

We took a tour through the city, visiting the Peace Square where you can see the Peace Column, a light-grey granite column that acts as a memorial to victims of war and a symbol of peace. Also you can see there the new and the old City Hall.

We continued our walking tour to the Hansa Square, which is the largest public square in the historic centre of Dortmund, serving as a central meeting point for locals and tourists. Near the square lies the Catholic Parish of St. Johannes Baptist, which is a remarkable church that dates back 700 years. Although it suffered damage during World War 2, the building was restored and renovated until 1966. In the city centre you can also visit the Petri Church, St.Reinold and Mary’s church.

An important highlight of the city is the Florian Tower (Florianturm), the TV tower of Dortmund, that is situated in the Westfalenpark and it was built in 1959 as an attraction for a federal horticultural show with a height of 219.6 metres (720 ft). You can climb the tower and have a breathtaking panoramic view of the city and its surroundings.

If you visit Dormund, then you must see the Krügerpassage, built in 1912, that is the oldest passage in Dortmund's city centre. It is named after Bücher Krüger. The traditional bookshop was an institution in Dortmund until it was taken over by the Mayersche Buchhandlung and the location was moved. The passage connects the Westenhellweg with the Kampstraße and is characterized by its Art Nouveau elements.
