Buy now pay later company Zip Co increased its customer base by 104 per cent to 5.3 million people in 2020.
Social distancing rules resulted in Australians spending several months working from home which meant online shopping boomed.
“Arguably Covid has been a tailwind for a business such as Zip. We saw a significant shift in the way Australians spent and shopped and there was a huge flight to online,” Zip Co-founder Peter Gray told Sky News.
“There was significant uptick in online marketplace transactions and purchases for the homes.”
