Specifics:
At the request of a user on Twitter, I decided to post my recording attempt of Shiva in Sempiternal publicly. Hopefully people still playing this mod will find use out of this.
Shiva in Sempiternal may not seem like he's changed that much besides an HP boost and new innate skill. But while Shiva himself is mostly the same, his allies have seen a MASSIVE upgrade. Not only are their attacks more diverse, but the addition of Safeguard makes it so cheesing through nullifying their attacks don't work.
However having reviewed the changes, I knew I could not only beat Shiva, but do so at a low level.
Having fought and conquered the Hindu God of Destruction so many times across both SMTV Vanilla and Vengeance, I know exactly how he works down to a tee.
How Shiva works is already well documented by @Bucketgetter (link below). But essentially,
If you N/D/R most of what Shiva and his allies can do, he will use Tandava every third turn, use Megidolaon more often and begin using Impaler's Animus to boost one of his non-almighty attacks.
But if you don't do that, he will not use them outside of these cases
1. The first turn Tandava
2. A scripted Megidolaon at half HP
3. (Discovered by @RobinandZephyr) If Shiva's allies miss, he'll retaliate with Tandava on the following turn (this actually seems to not be the case anymore as Ganesha missed a ton with Mighty Cleave and that behavior didn't trigger)
4. (Discovered by me and @cantthinkofbettername5065) If Shiva is denied his second press turn too often, he'll open up a turn with Tandava.
Additionally, there are some things you can null without consequence:
1. Kali and Dakini's ailments
2. (Discovered by me... or Bucketgetter IDK if he documented this I'll double check) Parvati's Light attacks ONLY through an innate resistance (no passives).
So to make this fight as safe as possible, I knew the perfect squad for the job, the Squadistu.
Naamah, Lilith and Agrat all resist at least one of Shiva's attacks innately (Agrat being the only one who needs more than one passive to cover them) and Soul Drain heals a ton of their HP and MP so I never have to worry about items. Especially with the higher skill costs of Sutras (now purchasable at Cadaver's Hollow after beating Abdiel and Dazai) making it so MP costs a lot more than I typically spend. As for their roles
1. Naamah buffs with Luster Candy and occasionally uses Capitulate to Pleasure on Ananta. Worth mentioning now that the ads I chose to keep on the field are Ganesha and Dakini. Of the ads, they're the least threatening. Naamah is in the first party slot so she can cure Lilith or Agrat if they get inflicted with Charm. But as the fight goes on, Diminishing Returns makes that a non-issue
2. Lilith- Uses Debilitate and Zanbarion on Ananta
3. Agrat- Attacks Shiva with Bufubarion and heals with Mediarama (used over Mediarahan for MP conservation)
4. Nahobino- Occasionally uses Bufubarion but mostly spams Kannabi Veil. It's pretty well documented that Kannabi Veil in Sempiternal is busted (something that has been better balanced in later updates) so using it every turn is essential for survival.
One final thing to note. At the start of the battle, I had Titania on the field in place of Naamah so she could cast Fairy Banquet to counter the turn 1 Tandava.
