In this video, I’ll show you most of the controls that will allow you to get the most out of it. I’ll touch on receiver settings transmit settings, parametric Equalizer settings, dual receive, AGC, DNR, and the very powerful VRF front end control.

I’ll also show how you can set it up “outside the instructions” to transmit up to 4 KHz wide with one.

I’ll also have some helpful information for anyone looking to purchase one of these transceivers used.

It’s impossible to touch on every single thing this transceiver does without making a video five hours long. But I tried to cover most of the things that I use on the rig it and why it’s my favorite.

Personally, I’ve kept this transceiver over an FTDX 101D and MP, When I really want to enjoy working a ham radio, this is the single radio I always go to.

Also, the “VRF Steps” are described at 35:11. There are more “steps” on the lower bands due to a higher natural amount of QRN.

The “more steps” are from 160-30m To help the user mitigate atmospheric noise coming into the front end of the FTDX 5000.

To see The combination and power using the a combination of Width, VRF and DNR DSP functions of the FTDX 5000 to pull in weak signals, I move to the noisy 75/80 m band.
