Identify A,B,C,D: aromatic compound gives FeCl3 buff precipitate; reacts with SOCl2, NH3, Br2/KOH D?
Which aromatic compound [A] gives a buff-coloured precipitate with neutral FeCl3 and what are [B], [C] and [D]?
What is the structure of [A] that on treatment with SOCl2 yields [B], then with NH3/heat gives [C], and with Br2/KOH gives [D]?
Identify compounds [A], [B], [C] and [D] if [A] gives FeCl3 buff precipitate and [D] has formula C6H7N and a characteristic odour.
Propose reagents and reaction sequence that convert aromatic [A] → (SOCl2) [B] → (NH3, heat) [C] → (Br2/KOH) [D]; identify each compound.
Given the reactions and tests (FeCl3, SOCl2, NH3/heat, Br2/KOH) identify A, B, C and D consistent with C6H7N for D.
