The Truth About J.D. Vance’s “Hillbilly Elegy”

Описание: This past summer at the Republican National Convention, Senator J.D. Vance (R) from Ohio was announced as Donald Trump’s new running mate. Vance was elected to Ohio’s state senate in the 2022 primary election, and has not held any other political office. After Trump’s announcement, some were confused as to who Vance was, and why he was picked. Those who don’t follow Ohio’s state politics realized shortly afterward that J.D. Vance was actually the bestselling author of “Hillbilly Elegy” (2016). However, the question of why Vance was picked became even more confusing for people when they factored in his past life and more specifically, his past comments about Donald Trump. Today, I will be covering Vance’s memoir “Hillbilly Elegy” and his past and current life. More than that, I will be dissecting his use of Appalachia, hillbillies, and poor rural whites in general throughout his book and political career.
