Crossbow string replaced Fast, Cheap and Easy!

Описание: After an unfortunate cut across my crossbow string caused the string to snap I was left with a few choices to return it to an operational state.

1.) Take it to a shop to be serviced, wait a week, and pay $150-200.
2.) Buy or make a bow press and DIY for around the same cost or more.
3.) Buy the string and determine a way to replace it myself.

Obviously I chose option 3 and it was a success. I didn’t discuss it in the video but a ratchet strap was also used to tension the paracord, paying attention to keep both sides equal to avoid putting strain on one side of the bow over the other. I do not recommend anyone try this method but it worked for me. My string was purchased from 60X custom strings for around $40. I will list the steps below. Thanks for watching.

1. I ran the length of paracord through the string path and had loops in the ends of the cord to attach to the cam notches.
2. I connected the hooks of a ratchet strap to the paracord and went around the butt of the crossbow to brace the ratchet.
3. I tensioned the ratchet until the holes of both cams were spun so that only one hole was remaining on the inside of the bow body.
4. I placed screwdrivers in the cam holes outside the bow body and released the ratchet, allowing the tension to fall back on the screwdrivers.
5. I removed the paracord and ran my new string through the string path and inserted the loops of the string onto the proper holds.
6. I pulled tension on the string and removed the two screwdrivers. I confirmed that the string was even across the string stop and that the string was laying properly in the cam lines.
7. I test fired the bow to ensure the string had been seated properly.

As I stated in the video, I recommend taking your bow to a qualified shop to be serviced. Replacing your own crossbow string can be a risky operation considering the tension and force that exist within the crossbow mechanics. This video is solely to demonstrate my experience replacing the string myself without spending time or money necessary to follow the other options. Thanks for watching and be safe!
