In the world of custom motorcycles, few builds manage to balance raw performance with head-turning style quite like the one we’re about to explore. Born in Poland and built by the incredibly talented hands at Red Hot Chili Customs, this stunning Yamaha XJ600 cafe racer is not just a visual masterpiece—it’s also a joy to ride.

RHCC is a hidden gem within Europe’s bustling custom scene. Since 2009, shop boss Redu has put together over 100 one-of-a-kind machines, and each build reflects a perfect blend of technical skill and creative vision. But this time, the project took on an even more personal tone—this beauty was crafted specifically for Redu’s brother, making it not just a custom job, but a labor of love.

The base for the build is a 1989 Yamaha XJ600, also known in some markets as the FJ600. It was a solid and underrated sport-tourer in its day, but RHCC had far more radical plans. The transformation began with the installation of a boxy Kawasaki fuel tank, an unconventional but bold choice. Its sharp lines would ultimately influence the rest of the bike’s design, setting the tone for a muscular and retro aesthetic.

To complement the angular tank, Redu fabricated a custom rear subframe and handmade tail section, topped off with a sleek, solo leather saddle. The tail’s sharp geometry mirrors that of the tank, creating symmetry from front to back. Side covers were added to close off the rear frame neatly, while a swingarm-mounted license plate bracket and multi-function LED tail lights complete the clean, minimal rear setup.

The front end retains its original forks but with a fresh look—black rubber gaiters from Kedo provide that classic vibe, and the trimmed front fender gives the bike a more aggressive stance. Redu chose to keep the original belly pan, which surprisingly fits perfectly into the new cafe racer silhouette.

The cockpit is all business. A compact MMB speedometer, clip-on handlebars from Fehling, and underslung bar-end mirrors from Highsider give the rider a stripped-down, focused feel. Even the blinkers are integrated into the mirror stems for a slick and modern touch. The entire wiring system has been rebuilt, ensuring long-term reliability for everyday rides or weekend cruises.

When it comes to handling, RHCC didn’t cut corners. The rear suspension was upgraded to a modern YSS shock, providing vastly improved comfort and performance over the stock setup. Meanwhile, braided stainless-steel brake lines ensure precise and dependable braking.

The bike rolls on its original OEM wheels, now wrapped in Dunlop Arrowmax tires for excellent grip in both wet and dry conditions. But what really brings the bike to life is the treatment of the XJ600’s inline-four engine. RHCC added DNA high-performance pod filters and a stunning four-into-one exhaust system capped with a reverse megaphone muffler from Marving. This setup not only boosts power and responsiveness but delivers a glorious soundtrack.

And then, there’s the paintwork. RHCC went with a rich red base, detailed with a reinterpretation of Yamaha’s legendary speed block livery. Side covers are finished in contrasting white, while black components throughout the bike help balance the palette and focus attention on the bold lines.

In the end, this build is more than just a cafe racer—it’s a testament to passion, craftsmanship, and family.
