Robin Kumar Das a famous theatre director, actor and scenic designer, was born in Balasore, Odisha. He is a graduate from the National School of Drama[1976] Delhi. Renowned actors Vijay Kashyap, KK Raina and Pankaj Kapoor along with the directors like Ranjit Kapoor and Anil Chaudhary were his batchmates in NSD
In the 70s and 80s, working with many important theatre directors from within India and abroad, he made a distinct identity in the field of theatre as an innovative and phenomenal dramatist. Robin Das has exposed many important dimensions of modern Indian theatre through directing in over 50 dramas of different genres. Robin Das is also active as an art director and actor for feature films, television and other mediums of entertainment.
He had acted in films like Shadows of the Rainbow (1993), The Curse of King Tut`s Tomb (2006), Mary Kom (2014). Kaun Kitney Paani Mein (2015) and Ranviir The Marshal (2015). Robin Das received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2000 for his contribution to the theatre as a scenic designer.
