LMS 8f 48151 took charge of the steam leg on the final "Waverley" of the season operated by the Railway Touring Co
and is seen at one of the classic locations on the Settle-Carlisle line on the return leg.. The diesel would take the train forward to York from Hellifield.
Earlier in the day, my dear wife and I camped out at the northern end of Lake Windermere to witness the only 2 airworthy Lancaster Bombers --- the BBMF " KCA Thumper 111" Lancaster and its sister from the Canadian Warplane Museum (VR-A Vera) which has flown over for a 2 month tour. The aircraft were returning from displays in Northen Ireland and Ayr to their base at RAF Coningsby
Not the best location but hopefully I'll see them again at Southport Airshow in a couple of weeks -- with the Vulcan due to display on Saturday
