Les 141R, "made in USA"
This emblematic series of 1300 locomotives built in the USA for France at the end of the 1940s is the largest order made by SNCF. These 188-ton machines in running order, developing almost 3000 hp, can go 100 km / h.
They towed legendary trains such as the Mistral, the Blue Train and the Golden Arrow in double traction with the 231 Pacific. Today in France, only 4 copies are technically in working order: our 420, the 840 (Orléans), the 1126 (Toulouse) and the 1199 (Le Mans). It should be noted that 2 machines (n ° 568 and n ° 1244) circulate in Switzerland.
