How we built the GDS empathy lab and how we run it. How it started from a test lab and changed to an empathy lab when we moved offices. The devices, equipment and assistive technology we have focused on. The design of the area and information it includes. How we run and manage visits for anyone from the public sector. Different ways we use the lab for: empathy, testing, persona training and persona testing. Some of the challenges we faced. And some ideas for what we want to do next, in particular encouraging others to set up their own labs and how to start small.
