Once a sufficiently powerful quantum computer is developed, all of our current public-key cryptography will be obsolete. Adversaries are already storing our encrypted data in preparation for that day. Post-quantum cryptography is a form of cryptography that is conjectured secure against both classical and quantum attacks. In this talk, Emily discusses the different types of post-quantum cryptography, and how to start preparing today for the quantum threat.
Emily Stamm co-founded Cybersecurity NonProfit (CSNP) to provide free security education with the purpose of making security more accessible, inclusive, and diverse. She is a senior consultant at Protiviti in quantum computing where she engineers quantum machine learning algorithms and advises on the benefits and cryptographic threats of quantum computing. Her previous experience includes cryptography research and engineering, and publishing number theory research papers as an undergraduate.
*For simplicity, this talk only discusses infinite lattices. However, it should be noted that the lattices used in cryptography are finite and are over rings and modules. For more information, see https://eprint.iacr.org/2015/938.pdf and https://csrc.nist.gov/Projects/post-q....
