Описание: At the Mutual Fund Summit (LIVE), Amarjeet Singh, Whole-Time Member (WTM) at Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), revealed that the regulator is increasingly leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to detect instances of mis-selling in the financial sector.
He highlighted cases where retirement plans were sold to non-individual entities, stressing the need for tighter oversight, stronger compliance, and accountability among intermediaries. Singh noted that SEBI can now identify and target key intermediaries where irregularities are detected.
He further emphasized the importance of industry-wide ethical capacity building, urging market participants to develop ethics-focused capability modules. Singh added that the industry itself can create AI-based tools to curb mis-selling and work closely with National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) to strengthen ethical practices across stakeholders.
