I will be focusing on Glyndwr Michael – a poor, homeless man, possibly with a mental illness - who died in tragic circumstances in January 1943 and whose body was used to fool the Nazis into diverting troops away from the Allied invasion of Sicily.

Expect to find out who “The Man who Never Was” was and the background he came from – the South Wales Coalfields in the Edwardian Era – a time of ease and plenty for some, but a time of poverty, disease and mental illness for many.

I have dedicated this video to the memory of my nephew, Laurie Herring, who sadly passed away earlier this year at the age of 18. He was a very bright young man who loved history, literature and politics. He also had a strong social conscience, and he would often stop to talk to homeless people on his way to and from school. He was able to see through the grime and the stereotypes at the person beneath, and an award has been set up in his name within the St Martin’s Housing Trust in Norwich to help encourage creative writing.
