How to Make a Chicken Cup, and String Instrument Science

Описание: Follow along as I make a crazy chicken cup string instrument. Then we'll talk about the science behind string instruments and a bonus violin demonstration! Instructions for the chicken cup and links below for more about the violin and some great violin and fiddle solos.

Here's what you'll need if you want to make your own chicken cup
Disposable cup - can be styrofoam or plastic
Piece of string - can be yarn, kite string, cooking twine, or any kind of string
Paper clip or safety pin - can also be a hair clip or bobby pin, or really anything small that you can tie string to
Water
Paper towel or napkin
Optional scotch tape
Optional decorations

And here's how to make it in case the video isn't clear.
Poke a hole in the top of your cup (I used a pencil)
Feed your string through the hole, leaving a little bit leftover
Tie your paper clip to the string
(optional: tape the paperclip to the top of the cup)
Dip a small piece of paper towel or napkin in the water and squeeze it
Hold the string with the paper towel and pinch firmly
Pull the paper towel down the string in short bursts
(optional: decorate!)
