In Job 28 we have an “ode to wisdom” where Job has now moved from speaking directly to Bildad, and now attempts to teach all of his friends how to acquire wisdom. Job 28 is unlike any other chapter among the human speeches of Job and is undoubtedly my (David Alley’s) favourite chapter spoken by Job. It is also a high point of wisdom literature coming out of ancient times.
Job asks if wisdom can be mined. Or can wisdom be purchased? Or can wisdom be found? Where does one acquire wisdom and how?
