After she had to quit playing football at a young age due to a serious knee injury she decided to change course. She is now the director of her own foundation called Favela Street with projects all around the world. Her vision on creating sustainable change is focused on expectations. How do you challenge expectations? How do you go beyond your expectations and unlimit yourself? Together with researcher Laura Jonker she developed an innovative impact measurement tool that measures the personal growth of the young participants and the effect of that growth on the people around them, the so-called ripple effect. With this tool and her vision she challenges the status quo in the NGO world regarding impact measurement. She challenges governing bodies and policies to shift from a quantitative approach with focus on scale and numbers to a more qualitative approach with focus on measuring the sustainable change. Roxanne Hehakaija, better known as Rocky, is a familiar face in the international street football world, as the only female member of the Street Legends, the best street football team in the world. Besides her passion for street football, she has played for ‘Jong Oranje’. After a serious knee injury ended her career she started a new mission. Together with Philip Veldhuis she started the Favela Street Foundation, an organization that empowers young people to become role models through the power of street football. Rocky is a consultant with organizations such as Nike and UEFA, and is a much sought-after speaker both nationally and internationally. The BBC included her in the “BBC 100 Women” and she received a nomination for ‘World’s Most Innovative Women’ alongside Michelle Obama and peace activist Zahra ‘Langhi. Her latest accomplishment on the field is becoming the first female character in FIFA20.
