Visit the d-day zone with a guide. The 101st and 82nd airborne were the first wave of the Utah beach attack. General Lawton Collins was the commander of the VII corps. 4th division, 101st division and the 82nd division.
Their job was to secure the terrain inland from Utah beach. The 101st landing just inland of Utah beach and the 82nd farther inland to capture Ste Mere Eglise and bridges on the river Merderet.
This video is an overview of thier actions on the 6th. there will be more videos on specific actions of the airborne. Like Becourt manor, Angoville au Plain, La fierre bridge.
In these videos we will visit D-day sites as if I was guiding you. We will actualy visit in a way not possible if you were with me. video allows teletranporting a few miles in a few seconds.
The first video sets the scene for D-day. Why it was on the 6th June 1944 and why was it on the normandy beaches between Caen and the Cherbourg penisnsula.
