Gutter cleaning can look like a simple add-on service, but the risks are real if the job isn’t planned properly. This CPD-approved course from the Window Cleaners Association UK (WCA) gives you a clear, repeatable safety system you can apply on every job — whether you’re a sole trader or managing a team.

Inside the course you’ll learn:
• Working at height decisions and the hierarchy of control (ground-first approach)
• Ladder safety (only when justified), including fall zones and stability controls
• Safe gutter vacuum operation under PUWER (checks, maintenance, defect control)
• Electrical safety (EAWR): RCD use, extension reels, generators and carbon monoxide awareness
• Overhead power line and roofline cable risk using GS6 principles
• Pigeon guano and biohazards (COSHH): PPE/RPE, dust control and decontamination
• Asbestos cement gutter debris cleaning using HSE A10 and EM8 principles
• Waste duty of care (England) and the paperwork basics
• The “One Job Pack” system to standardise safe work on every job

Course format:
