Saanda was originally developed in the 17th century by the Saanda Darogha family whose head / chief Mian Omer ud Din was the SDO & Incharge of Lahore fort. Prior to shrinking and alteration in the route of River Ravi, Saanda was situated near the bank of River Ravi. Present day Saanda is a thriving residential locality which is high in value all amenities required for modern living. Amazingly, despite being situated in the Centre of city, it has wide roads, organized streets and reasonable amount of greenery, trees and parks. Chohan Road used to be the most high value area in Saanda. Islampura is adjacent to the Saanda and has very much similar characteristics. Islampura is situated at the backside of the Punjab civil secretariat.
