The SSM 200 SO combines the advantages of a high-precision rail bound forging manipulator with the flexibility of a mobile forging manipulator. Its endlessly slewing main frame is equipped with a lever system and forging tongs designed specifically for open-die forging applications.

A rail-mounted bridge and a transversely traveling upper carriage enable cartesian movement within the working area. This design allows the manipulator to reach forging furnaces positioned alongside the rails. Hot workpieces can be picked up directly from the furnace, transported to the open-die press and forged immediately.

By minimizing transport distances and handling time, heat loss in the workpiece is significantly reduced. Shorter transfer times improve temperature stability, support consistent forming conditions and reduce the need for reheating. This has a direct positive impact on process efficiency and production costs.

Two operating modes ensure efficient and ergonomic operation. During transport, the manipulator is controlled from a cabin mounted on the slewing frame, similar to a mobile forging manipulator. At the press, control can be switched to an integrated control unit within the press control panel. In this configuration, a single operator can control both the press and the manipulator during the forging process.

By combining precision, flexibility and integrated operation, the SSM 200 SO closes the gap between rail-mounted and mobile forging manipulators and provides a highly efficient solution.
