Sellafield Customer Intimacy visit 2025

"I am pleased to be visiting Sellafield, which is one of the world's most significant and complex nuclear sites. During my last visit in August 2024, I met with a large cohort of the contractor group and ECIA members, as well as the site Industrial Relations representative, Dave Keville. We discussed the needs of the contractors, as well as those of NAECI, and explored ideas for productivity improvements.
Today, I met in a more intimate setting with a newly elected Chairman, Glen Slee (Operations Director of Altrad) and deputy chair Mike Brown (Director of PPS), who represent the NAECI contractor group and Thomas Hyland, Area Director Nuclear and Defence at Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick. For me, it was important to hear about the site-specific requirements and changes implemented since my last visit, and to take on board any feedback that can help shape the NAECI and the industry going forward.
I am pleased to have learned about the successes of the PPP delivery model. The Programme & Project Partners is a framework that packages project work for a set period of time. This unites the ECIA employers on site and provides them with business security, opportunity to plan for the future and the base to build a stronger force in the recruitment of the next generation of talent to the engineering construction industry. We have produced videos with some of the employers involved, which will be shared with our members in the upcoming months.
Sellafield is managed by Sellafield Ltd, a subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA), and employs around 11,000 people.
