Dative prepositions in German are used with the dative case and indicate relationships such as location or direction. Here are some common dative prepositions:
1. *aus* (from, out of):
Ich komme aus Deutschland. (I come from Germany.)
2. *bei* (at, near, with):
Ich bin bei meinem Freund. (I am at my friend's place.)
3. *mit* (with):
Ich gehe mit dir. (I am going with you.)
4. *nach* (after, to a city or country):
Ich fahre nach Berlin. (I am going to Berlin.)
5. *seit* (since, for):
Ich wohne hier seit zwei Jahren. (I have been living here for two years.)
6. *von* (from, of):
Das Geschenk ist von meiner Schwester. (The gift is from my sister.)
7. *zu* (to, at):
Ich gehe zu der Schule. (I am going to the school.)
When using these prepositions, remember that the nouns that follow will take the dative case. For example, in "Ich gebe dem Mann das Buch" (I give the book to the man), "dem Mann" is in the dative case.
