Singapore Airport is one of the largest airports in Asia and one of the most beautiful in the world. Singapore is an important hub between Europe and Southeast Asia or Oceania. The route to Australia is known as the kangaroo route. The airport is 20 kilometers east of the city center. It occupies a large part of the area of the Changi district.
In the mid-1970s, the Singapore government decided to build a new airport because the previous one was bursting at the seams. The decision was made for a location near the fishing village of Changi, where the Japanese had already built an airfield during the occupation. In order to gain additional space, marshland was drained from 1975 and huge amounts of land were deposited in the South China Sea.
