Revenge (1989) -- Why This is a Great, Forgotten Movie (Forgotten Classic, Episode 3)

Описание: On the Criterion's "Martin Scorsese World Cinema Project, #2," sits a great movie.

That's "Revenge." It's from Kazakhstan, made in the late 1980s, and featuring an intricate series of related folktales.

This movie is great, and yet it might be overlooked because you can only find it on the Criterion disc, with 6-7 other movies.

I like Revenge a lot, because of its complexity, cinematography, universal philosophical concerns, the soundtrack, and its depiction of Rene Girard's ideas. All of these are briefly mentioned in this review of Revenge.
