Irakli Parjiani’s “Revived Gospels” is the first facsimile edition of the Gospels as transcribed and illustrated by the artist. The works are unique in their color palette, since they were produced using a special technique developed by Irakli Parjiani, which meant obtaining colors through the meticulous processing of paints. Visitors will have the chance to view an exact copy of Parjiani’s Gospels brought to life through modern technology in the form of a video installation.
In Parjiani’s « Gospels », influences from the Middle Ages surface, while at the same time, they bear signs of modern culture. Here the canonical iconography of handwritten religious books and the author’s original interpretation coexist. A unique version of the Gospel was created in Soviet Georgia, and to this day has no existing analogue.
The facsimile edition of the Gospels of Irakli Parjiani is exclusively brought to Georgia by Smart Innovations.
