After Steve's disappearance, the U.S. government convinced Gail to give the baby up for adoption, claiming it was for the best. In reality, the government wanted to use the child's genetic potential—inherited from the Super-Soldier Serum in Steve's blood—to create a new super-soldier.
Upbringing: The child was raised in a secret government facility and displayed abilities exceeding his father's. However, the boy grew up to be psychopathic. On his 17th birthday, he killed 247 men to escape the facility and cut off his own face with a kitchen knife to reject his father's resemblance, leaving behind a "red skull".
Confrontation: Years later, he re-emerged as a terrorist attempting to use a Cosmic Cube to rewrite reality so that his father had never been lost, allowing them to live a normal life together.
