After school shootings in the U.S. – of which there have been 19 so far this year – parents and lawmakers often speak out about the need for gun reform. But a local group of middle schoolers are speaking for themselves in a short documentary, “Not Me: Children Caught in the Crossfire,” which won third place in the middle school division of C-SPAN’s annual StudentCam contest. Felica Curtis, Ellie Epstein and Coco Shen – eighth graders from Concord, joined Jared Bowen to discuss their film and the action they want Congress to take.
The New Bedford Symphony Orchestra is connecting to new audiences by taking their music to all kinds of new locations– from breweries and libraries to schools and community festivals. NBSO president and CEO David Prentiss and education director Terry Wolkowicz joined Jared Bowen to discuss the orchestra’s work and their upcoming season.
