Streedagh Strand Beach walk
3 hours
Easy, but there are no shortcuts back!
Streedagh Strand is a tombolo, which is a spit of deposited material which connects the mainland to an island. The island in this case is called Conors Island.
There is a carpark on the beach but you should be wary of spring tides or maybe any high tide and park as high as possible on the cobbles. You will be gone a long time on this walk.
The walk ends at Conors Island where you can see a cobble storm beach, it sweeps around to your right when you reach Black Rock, the very prominent rock at the end of the beach which looks like a small island.
To the left of the carpark, when facing the sea, is Streedagh Point. At low tide you can walk around it on flatish rock shelves. We did not go that way this time because of the high tide.
