Gibberellic Acid isa growth promoting Phytohormone.
It is obtained from a fungus named Gibberella fugikorai.
Major role of this Phytohormone are:
• It promotes Bolting in rosette plants such as cabbage, beetroot etc.
• It causes stem elongation in sugarcane plant so as to obtain maximum amount of product from it i.e. jaggery, sugar etc. It is known for increasing the yield upto 20 tonnes/acre, such a magical role it plays!
• Gibberellic Acid also promote the elongation and improves shape of apple plant, so it is widely used in apple orchards.
