I'd been looking forward to visiting Rare Species Conservation Centre for months and we finally planned to visit on the Bank Holiday August weekend. It was with great sadness to hear the place was shutting down due to lack of revenue, but we managed to visit two days before closure, and we were glad we did. A great little place with a lot of animals you won't see in the UK: Fanaloka, Dusky Pademelon, Ring-tailed Vontisra, Boky Boky among others. It was a shame that some of the animals had already moved on, I really wanted to see the Spotted Cuscus!
We spent the morning there, and saw some very playful smooth coated otters, and one of the Giant Otters seemed very interested in the GoPro. The staff did a great job in offering talks on the Sun Bears, Binturong and Maned Wolves and kept on going in difficult circumstances; a real credit.
Overall a great experience, and one that we unfortunately won't be able to revisit.
