I sincerely thank President Tinubu for this landmark appointment. The position of Deputy Director General of the DSS is established in the existing regulations that govern the service; however, this position has never been implemented. As a result, most DSS officers have been retiring as Directors, as there is limited opportunity for progression in rank compared to their counterparts in the Police, Civil Defence, Immigration, and other agencies.
