When the venerable violin dealers J. & A. Beare invited Janine Jansen to play 12 of the world´s greatest Stradivari instruments and select matching music for the production of an album to be included in a catalogue of the Strads believed to be still in existence, she immediately knew that this was a once in a life time chance not to be missed. She travelled to London followed by multiple award-winning filmmaker Gerald Fox, her Shumsky Strad on her back, to explore the other instruments which formed part of the project. This resulted not only in a concert of a century featuring 12 of Antonio Stradivari’s
most legendary violins, but also in an impressive documentary that spots the Stradivarius myth in a completely new light.
