Sri Vishnu Brahmotsavam festival is one of the most important and auspicious functions celebrated at Shiva Vishnu Temple. Popular stories trace the origin of this celebration to Brahma, the creator God, who first conducted this festival to Lord Venkateshwara as a way to give thanks for the Lord’s protection of mankind. Hence, this function bears his name as Brahmotsavam. The Brahmotsavam is performed over a three-day period at Shiva Vishnu Temple. On the start of the first day, the rite of Ankurarpanam is performed. The main activity on that day is the Dhwaja Arohanam, the hoisting of the Garuda flag at the Dhwajastambham. This signifies the commencement of the Brahmotsavam. It is believed that Garuda goes to Devalokam and invites the Devas to attend the function.

With the literal meaning of "Bramha's Festival," the Brahmotsavam festival is approached with great zeal and enthusiasm by people across the country. Held in October, the celebrations usually last over nine days. The first day is marked by the "Anurarpana" ritual carried along with the celebration of Sri Vishvaksena. This particular festival segment is significant to believers as it signifies prosperity, fertility, and abundance. You will see several vahanas (chariots) near temples and holy places where the deity is taken out in a procession that lasts nine days.

People celebrate by donating things to the poor, visiting temples to perform rituals, and offering prayers to the creation itself. These rituals are commonly known as Homes, and many fairs are put up near temples. This is a small beautiful Hindu temple just out of the city. This temple is quite popular with locals.

It was actually a bit busy on the evening we went. The pooja work done here is very organised and pleasing. You can also make offerings from the flower shop which is available in the kovil premises. Parking was quite small but manageable. Yet it would have been better if there was more parking space. It is highly praisable that the prayers and way of making offerings is very methodical which makes it a lot more easier to do our prayers. There are many devalas for other gods as well. The temple is very good and clam place to do prayers.

This is on a by road on Anderson road which connects Kalubowila to Nadimala. If you travel towards Nadimala it is on the right. Just as your enter Vishnu Kovil street, the kovil is on the left.
The main deity is Vishnu. If you stand in front of the main compound on the left you will see small temples of Shiva,Patthini,Durga,Kali,Lakshmi. Inside the main temple There is also idols of Ganesha , Murugan & Padmavati,behind the main temple and in front also there are idols of other gods.
There is a big statue depicting Gita upadesh where Lord Krishna preaches about Gita to Arjun. There is also an idol where Lord Vishnu is on the lying posture similar to what you will find in Trivandrum, Kerala in India. It is a popular kovil among the locals but not known to foreigners. Many who visit are devotees living around but there are people coming from faraway places as well. There is an astrological service inside the temple premises. If you inquire from priests you will be guided accordingly. Hope this review will help devotees and may Lord Vishnu bless you even if you’re not a Hindu.
