However, the city’s CCTV system—installed at a cost of over ₹3 crore—soon stopped working. Nearly two years later, Rourkela Police have restored 220 CCTV cameras across key locations. This initiative aims to prevent petty crimes, thefts, and snatching incidents. In a new move, the cameras have also been linked with the photo database of known criminals, making tracking faster and smarter.
