In this video, I recreate Dunkelheit from the iconic Filosofem album by BURZUM, asking the question: can you recreate this song with modern tools but keep some the spirit of lo-fi and rawness?

Along the way, let's uncover some bits and pieces of trivia of how Varg Vikernes recorded Filosofem... including some "studio magic" that will surely make tr00 kvltists clutch their pearls and cry in a corner.

At the end of the day... yes, you can recreate it, but no, rawness for the sake of rawness does not make a song good. A good song makes a song good. Anyway, enjoy this recreation and little history lesson about Dunkelheit, Filosofem, and BURZUM!
