Grandma and Dad made hot vegetable soup on the tiny stove while the rain drummed on the roof. The kids played cards at the little table. Mom set out warm bowls. And when we finally sat down to eat, with rain streaking down the windows and that golden light glowing inside our small home, it felt like the whole world had shrunk down to just us — safe, warm, and together.

After dinner, Grandpa told the kids stories while the storm continued outside. We tucked everyone in, turned down the lights, and listened to the rain lull us to sleep.

No distractions. Just the sound of rain, the warmth of family, and the comfort of being exactly where we needed to be.
