🎸 How I Edit Guitars for a Professional Mix (Real-Time in Reaper)
In this video, I walk you through my real-world guitar editing process inside Reaper DAW, using an actual song I’m currently working on for a client.
Nothing is pre-edited, nothing is staged — you’re seeing the real decisions, the real workflow, and the real problems that come up when editing guitars for a professional mix.
This is not about making guitars sound “perfect” or robotic. It’s about tightening performances while keeping them musical, natural, and powerful.
🎧 Why editing matters so much
A lot of people try to solve performance problems with plugins.
In reality, good editing is what allows a mix to sound clear, heavy, and intentional — especially in guitar-driven music.
If guitars aren’t edited properly:
The mix feels messy no matter how good the plugins are
Low end gets blurry
Transients fight each other
Everything feels “almost right” but never quite there
This video is meant to help you understand how editing fits into the bigger picture of mixing, whether you’re editing your own music or working with clients.
🎯 Who this video is for
Producers and engineers mixing guitar-based music
Artists recording guitars at home
People using Reaper (but the concepts apply to any DAW)
Musicians trying to understand what engineers actually do
Even if you don’t use Reaper, the editing philosophy applies everywhere.
🎛️ Want me to mix your song?
If you’re working on a track and want it to sound tight, clear, and professional without losing its identity, I can help.
