Описание: The Supreme Court has directed the Central Government, State Governments, and the University Grants Commission (UGC) to conduct inspections of deemed universities across the country.

The directive came during the hearing of a petition filed by a student who alleged that a deemed university failed to update her legally changed name in official records. While hearing the matter, the apex court sought details regarding the functioning of private deemed universities, compliance with UGC regulations, land allotments, financial transparency, and audit practices.

Following the court's observations, inspections are being carried out at deemed universities in several states. A high-level committee constituted by the government is expected to submit its report soon, examining governance, financial accountability, and regulatory compliance in these institutions.
