Packrafting The Mancos River through the Ute Mtn. Ute Tribal Park

This video is from two days we spent on the Mancos River, leaving from Scullbinder Ranch down 17 miles day one and 15 or so day two. We got permission from the powers that be at the Tribal Park to do this for my 50th birthday. We are grateful that they let us pass through their sacred lands!

Non-Utes may not enter the Park without permission, payment and generally a guide. This waterway is inaccessible due to most of it being on private property, Mesa Verde National Park and the Ute Mountain Ute Tribal Park. We found up to Class III rapids (really fun!), fast and swirly flood waters, lots of downed wood, TONS of beaver activity everywhere (including a dam pictured and one of the reel clips), lots and lots of brush in the face, stunning globe mallow and sweet smelling white flowers, thunder storms, cows, tons of birds (grosbeak, yellow Warblers, vireos, flycatchers and more), some sketchy strainers, a bunch of good friends and my brother who rode down to meet us and camp in the Tribal Park, and, of course, our awesome guide, Wolf, who took the cylists on a ruins tour today. What an incredible few days. I am so grateful 🙏🏼 What a cool way to see the canyon, putting on from our front yard. More video to come. -Lizzy
