Before Alarm Clocks, People Paid This Woman to Wake Them Up

Armed with long poles, pea shooters, or even rubber hoses, they’d tap on windows to make sure you didn’t oversleep.
This episode of @ReheatedHistory explores the bizarre world of Victorian-era wake-up calls, the last professional knocker-upper Mary Smith, and the moment machines finally took their jobs.
