A status quo report for the implementation of the rehabilitation of Lilian Ngoyi Street, released by the City of Johannesburg in September this year, indicates that more than R17 million has already been spent out of the total of almost R180 million that was due to be paid to the appointed contractor at that time.
In August this year, the City terminated this agreement due to alleged issues related to non-compliance with the contract.
As a result, the project has stalled with dire consequences for road users and residents.
